The Sacred Valley is largely agricultural. It produces the finest corn in Peru. This area also has a wide variety of potatoes, cereals, and greens. There is also an abundance of fruit. Apples, plums, peaches, and strawberries can be found on a seasonal basis.

The Sacred Valley sits at 2,800 meters above sea level. It is shadowed by the snowcapped peaks of Mt Chicon and Mt Pitusary. It is generally thought to include everything between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urabamba River. It is a distance of approximately 62 miles.
